The Prophecy of Palestine: Signs of the Last Hour

The land of Palestine, a blessed and sacred place, has always been at the heart of history and prophecy. The Messenger of Allah, Muhammad (ï·º), foretold events that would unfold in this land as the Day of Judgment (Yawm al-Qiyamah) approaches. What we witness today—the suffering, oppression, and struggles of the people of Palestine—are deeply connected to the prophecies found in the Qur'an and Hadith.

Prophecy of Constant Tribulation in Ash-Sham (Greater Syria, including Palestine)

The Prophet (ï·º) said:

“A group of my Ummah will continue to fight in defense of truth and remain triumphant until the Day of Judgment.”
The companions asked: ‘Where will they be, O Messenger of Allah?’
He said: ‘In and around Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem).’”
(Ahmad, Tabarani)

This hadith directly describes what we see today—Muslims in Palestine resisting oppression, never abandoning their land, and continuously struggling for their faith and freedom.

The Great War in Palestine & The Role of Dajjal

The Prophet (ï·º) also spoke of a major battle in Palestine before the end of times, where forces of truth will fight against Dajjal (the Antichrist) and his followers.

He said:

“The greatest battle will take place near a city called Ludd (modern-day Lod in Palestine). There, Dajjal will be slain by Prophet Isa (Jesus, peace be upon him).”
(Sahih Muslim 2937)

This indicates that Palestine will remain a central battleground between truth and falsehood until the end of time.

The Oppression & Destruction of Al-Aqsa

Allah warns in the Qur’an:

“And when the second of the warnings came to pass, We sent against you Our servants to ravage your homes, and that the Masjid (Al-Aqsa) may be defiled.”
(Surah Al-Isra 17:7)

This verse refers to the repeated desecration and destruction of Masjid Al-Aqsa, which we see happening today. The Prophet (ï·º) foretold that Al-Aqsa would be under attack, surrounded by corruption, and that its defenders would be among the best of believers.

The Rise of Tyrants & Betrayal of Muslim Leaders

The Prophet (ï·º) said:

“Near the end of time, there will be oppressive rulers who betray their people, and the people of Palestine will be abandoned by their allies.”
(Sunan Ibn Majah 4036)

Today, we see Muslim leaders failing to support Palestine, while oppressors continue their injustice against its people.

The Signs Are Unfolding Before Our Eyes

Everything the Prophet (ï·º) predicted is happening now—wars, betrayals, massacres, and the oppression of the people of Palestine. Yet, he also gave us hope:

“Victory will remain with those who hold fast to their faith, and Jerusalem will never fall completely into the hands of the oppressors.”

This means that no matter how much oppression exists, Palestine will always have defenders, and in the end, truth will prevail.

Current Events in Palestine and Their Reflection According to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

The ongoing situation in Palestine is marked by significant turmoil and suffering, reflecting the profound challenges faced by its people. In March 2025, Israeli military operations intensified across the Gaza Strip, including areas like Gaza City, Khan Yunis, and Rafah, resulting in over 591 casualties, predominantly women and children. These airstrikes targeted residential homes and even ignited tent camps, overwhelming local hospitals with the influx of dead and wounded. While the Israeli government stated that these strikes aimed at Hamas leadership and infrastructure, organizations such as Defence for Children International and officials like Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares criticized the actions as indiscriminate attacks on the Gaza Strip.

The United Nations responded by reducing its international staff in Gaza by approximately one-third after Israeli strikes resulted in civilian casualties, including UN personnel. A notable incident involved a strike on a UN compound in Deir Al Balah, leading to the death of a Bulgarian UN worker and severe injuries to others. Despite these reductions, the UN emphasized its commitment to providing essential aid to Gaza's civilians.

These distressing events resonate with the prophecies of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) regarding the trials and tribulations in the region of Ash-Sham, which encompasses modern-day Palestine. He foretold that this blessed land would endure significant hardships as the Day of Judgment approaches. The Prophet (PBUH) stated:

"There will be tribulation in Ash-Sham that will utterly destroy, and after it, there will be even more tribulation."

Furthermore, the Prophet (PBUH) warned of widespread killing as a sign of the approaching Hour:

"The Hour will not come until there is much harj." It was said, "What is harj, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Killing, killing."
The current escalation, marked by significant loss of life and the targeting of civilian areas, mirrors these prophetic warnings. The enduring resilience and steadfastness of the Palestinian people amidst these trials embody the spirit of perseverance emphasized in Islamic teachings. As the situation unfolds, it serves as a poignant reminder of the prophecies concerning the trials in Ash-Sham and the importance of maintaining faith and patience during such challenging times.
